Since 1974, Redwood Day Camp has been the gold standard for summer adventures in the Vaudreuil-Dorion area. What sets our day camp experience apart isn't just our 27 acres of pristine grounds or our our outdoor pools and 2 water slides—it's the way we transform ordinary summer days into extraordinary memories for campers of all ages. Let's explore why week after week, summer after summer, families continue to choose Redwood Country Day Camp.

A Typical Week at Redwood Day Camp: Adventure for Campers Every Day

From the moment day campers arrive on Monday morning until they wave goodbye on Friday afternoon, each week of camp is carefully designed to provide new challenges and exciting opportunities for campers. A typical week at Redwood follows a thoughtful progression:

Every morning, campers are welcomed by our enthusiastic counselors who maintain an exceptional camper ratio of 5:1 for younger groups and 8:1 for older children. The week begins with icebreaker activities that help forge new friendships and strengthen existing ones within our caring camp community.

Four days a week, campers participate in our full range of signature activities that our rising K-8 campers love. From zipline adventures and rock climbing to swim instruction and recreational swim daily in our outdoor pools, each day offers a balanced mix of high-energy play, skill development, and focused learning experiences.

Theme day once a week:  Special activities on theme days bring our entire camp community together. Whether it's Carnival Day, Color Wars, or our famous talent show, Theme Days at Redwood are the perfect highlight in a week of growth and discovery.

On Fridays, we wrap up the week on a high note with our camp dance. It’s a chance for every camper to let loose and enjoy one last joyful moment with friends before heading home. The campwide dance brings everyone together, filling the camp with music, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Beyond Activities: The Community That Makes Redwood Special

While our activities might draw families in initially, it's our camp community that keeps them coming back year after year. Redwood Country Day Camp isn't just a collection of individual campers—it's a close-knit community where children feel valued, respected, and empowered.

Our counselors, many of whom were once Redwood campers themselves, understand that creating a supportive environment is just as important as planning exciting activities. They're trained to foster inclusion, celebrate differences, and ensure every child feels they belong.

We've also developed creative and challenging activities for all the campers, ages 4 to 15, with specialists in everything from nature & science to rockclimbing sports to the creative arts, as well as unique activities such as driver’s ed and our automated zipline. This enriched program gives our campers an opportunity to try new things, reconnect with friends and familiar things, and enjoy a beautiful natural and forested environment.

The Perfect Balance: Structured Program and Challenging Activities

At Redwood Country Day Camp, we've perfected the balance between structured programming and challenging activities. Our day campers follow a core schedule that ensures they experience the full range of activities we offer, while also enjoying activities that are both team and individual challenges. Trying to surpass their previous level at the rock climbing wall, driving a modified golf cart as they navigate an outdoor track, biking around camp after passing their initiation on the bike track, and achieving their bracelet to swim in the deep pool after treading five minutes are some of the achievements the campers look forward to in the variety of activities that we offer.

Investment in Excellence: What a Week of Camp Includes

When families invest in a week of camp at Redwood, they're getting far more than childcare:

  • Daily swim instruction in our four outdoor pools

  • Recreational swim with water slides every afternoon

  • Transportation to camp from the West Island and the West End of Montreal

  • All specialty equipment for activities like rock climbing, pickleball, and biking

  • Trained specialists leading each program area

  • Phone calls from the counsellors each week

The Developmental Journey: Different Experiences for Different Ages

Redwood Day Camp understands that a 5-year-old camper has very different needs and interests than a 14-year-old. That's why we've crafted age-appropriate programs that evolve as our campers grow:

Junior Campers (Ages 4-6): With a lower camper ratio and more nurturing approach, our youngest day campers enjoy modified versions of our activities with plenty of rest time and extra support.

Intermediate Campers (Ages 7-10): These campers dive into the full range of Redwood activities, building confidence and skills during a pivotal developmental stage.

Senior Campers (Ages 11-13): Increased challenges and leadership opportunities keep these experienced campers engaged while preparing them for our CIT program.

Counselors-in-Training (Ages 14-15): This specialized program for campers transforms participants from children to leaders, providing hands-on experience working with younger groups under careful supervision.

Each age group enjoys a custom-tailored day camp experience that meets them where they are developmentally while pushing them to grow in confidence, skills, and social awareness.

Part of Something Bigger: The Redwood Impact on the Entire Community

The impact of Redwood Day Camp extends beyond our property lines. For over 50 years, we've been an integral part of the entire community, contributing through:

  • Employment opportunities for local teens and young adults

  • Partnerships with local businesses as vendors and activity providers

  • End-of-summer charity events that teach campers about giving back

  • Environmental stewardship of our 27-acre property

When families choose Redwood Country Day Camp, they're not just enrolling their children in a summer program—they're joining a tradition that has touched thousands of lives throughout our region.
