Creative

Balancing athletic development with creative expression, our camp programs include activities that engage the imagination alongside physical skills. Campers enjoy:

  • Sports-themed arts and crafts in our art facility

  • Dance activities that blend athletic skills with creative expression

  • Team-building challenges that encourage creative problem-solving in a fun environment

Our approach recognizes that creativity enhances athletic performance by developing flexible thinking, visualization skills, and innovative approaches to challenges both on and off the playing field.

Learning

Sports at Redwood Day Camp go beyond physical activity—they're powerful vehicles for developing life skills and personal growth. Our sports camps are designed to develop:

  • Essential life skills through teamwork and sportsmanship

  • Strategic thinking through understanding game strategies

  • Interpersonal skills through team cooperation

  • Agility skills through varied physical challenges

  • Basic skills for beginners and advanced skills for experienced campers

For older campers, our Leaders In Training Program (grades 6-7) and CIT Camp (Counsellor In Training Program, grades 8-9) provide opportunities to gain practical experience while assisting with younger campers' sports activities, potentially earning community service hours.

Sport

Our comprehensive sports camps programming is the heart of the Redwood experience, offering:

Multi-Sport Camp Approach

Rather than focusing on a single activity, our multi-sport camp approach exposes campers to a wide variety of sports, helping children:

  • Discover new interests they might not have explored otherwise

  • Develop well-rounded athletic abilities through progressive skill development

  • Build transferable skills across different sports

  • Experience a variety of fun physical challenges in a safe environment

Popular Sports Activities

We offer a wide variety of sports:

  • Soccer - Focusing on ball handling, passing techniques, and team play

  • Basketball - Progressive skill development with age-appropriate drills and games

  • Ball Hockey - A Canadian favorite that builds coordination and teamwork

  • Pickleball - One of our newest and most popular additions to our sports lineup

  • Softball - Learning throwing, catching, and batting fundamentals

  • Volleyball - Building team communication and cooperation

Campers rotate through these activities throughout their camp week, with our attentive staff ensuring each child receives appropriate instruction based on their skill levels. Our camp leaders create a challenging environment that's also supportive and inclusive.

Swim

Campers swim twice daily at Redwood, with swim instruction every morning of the week and recreational swimming or water slides in the afternoon. Our swimming program builds water confidence and essential swimming skills in our well-maintained pools.

Special Sports Features at Redwood

Sports Mania Theme Week

During week 4 of our summer program, Redwood hosts our annual Sports Mania event featuring the ultimate showdown between The Bears and The Moose! This exciting tradition combines physical activity with camp spirit for an unforgettable experience.

For campers looking to focus on specific sports, Redwood offers optional specialized programs:

  • Horseback riding ($90/week) with English Saddle instruction for grades 1 and up at a well-known stables in the Saint-Lazare/Rigaud area

What sets our sports camps apart is our commitment to creating an inclusive environment where every child can thrive. Our committed staff of camp counsellors and camp instructors ensures that all campers, regardless of athletic ability, have the opportunity to participate, improve, and most importantly, have fun.
