Rock Climbing

Driver's Ed

Waterslides

Your children will love our 24 ft. rock wall! Guided by skilled specialists, campers learn climbing techniques with ropes and karabiners. With six faces for different skill levels, safety is our priority with secure harnesses and a unique braking system. Rock climbing enhances problem-solving, creativity, and perseverance.

Driver’s Ed offers children the unique opportunity of learning how to drive on a special golf cart. The golf cart travels a maximum of 5 km/hr around special track. An instructor sits right next to the child to supervise and assist campers from grades 1 to 7, instructing them on how to handle a steering wheel, judge distances and follow safety rules.

Redwood's waterslides are a hit! The Speedway, 7 ft. wide, 55 ft. long, and 8 ft. high, is perfect for younger kids with its gentle slope. The Twister, 130 ft. long and 17 ft. high, thrills everyone with its twists and dips. Both slides ensure a fun and safe adventure for all campers.

SWIM INSTRUCTION

Redwood offers swim instruction, recreational swim, and waterslides daily.  With four heated outdoor pools, swimming twice daily and over 12 qualified lifeguards and instructors.  Our swim staff ensure that the campers learn lifelong skills to gain confidence and safely enjoy the water. Redwood has a unique swim program that parallels the Swim for Life principles.  Each swimmer is tested and put in their proper swim level within their first 3 days at camp. This enables campers to move at their own speed with peers of the same level. Redwood's aquatic director supervises all of the staff and pools at all times. The campers are also monitored by counsellors from their unit to give added support and supervision around the pool area.  Safety is always our top priority as we encourage the children to enjoy the water.

TRANSPORTATION

A full-time bus coordinator efficiently organizes all bus routes, driving them prior to camp to ensure safety. Morning pick-up is between 8:00 and 8:30 A.M. and afternoon drop-off is between 4:00 and 4:30 P.M., though door-to-door service is not guaranteed. Bussing costs $145 per week, per camper, where available.

Bus Route Districts include Hampstead, Cote St. Luc, Westmount, NDG, DDO, Pierrefonds, Kirkland, Beaconsfield, and a new route from Pointe-Claire to Baie d'Urfe south side.

Bus Duty Monitors: Trained bus duty monitors supervise children, ensure they are seated, and follow safety rules. They escort children on and off the bus daily.

EXTENDED DAY

Extended day care hours are available to families who do not require bus service.  The day begins at 7:30 A.M. and ends at 5:00 P.M.  The children are supervised by counsellors who participate with the children at various activities.  The charge for extended day care is $9.00 per hour/per child and you are billed at the end of your child's stay at camp.  Space is limited for this program and must be booked in advance.

Campers love Extended Day!  They make new friends from the area, share the comradery of having the camp to themselves and are able to have extra time to participate in their favorite activities.  Campers will have an extra swim period and will enjoy other camp activities.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Beautiful summers are more than just fleeting moments at Redwood. Every summer is a chance to take a step out of the hard pace of life, take everything you've learned so far and just roll with it. At Redwood, our campers are encouraged to grow as individuals, become stronger, more confident, in a place where we are all accepted and our ideas are taken seriously. Children are natural funsters! They will take everything that they have learned at Redwood and put it into their non-summer lives-by having as much fun as possible, while remembering respect, openness, community and kindness .
